Buy Smarter

Buying pre-owned equipment makes more sense than ever before.

Buying used CD and DVD equipment has always offered certain inherent advantages. For example, it can be delivered, installed and fully operational in just weeks instead of months. Now, recent technological advances and marketplace changes have added compelling new reasons to consider buying pre-owned machines.

The performance gap is shrinking.

Some people mistakenly believe that buying pre-owned machines means settling for smaller yields of inferior quality. Actually, often the opposite is true - if you know what to buy.
Three years ago, the average used replication line produced roughly 13,000 CDs per day vs. 20,000 for a new line. Today it’s more like 18,000 used vs. 22,000 new. Pre-owned equipment can provide excellent features and robust performance for a fraction of the cost of new machines.

Hard-to-obtain financing can be minimized or avoided.

Three years ago, a buyer could get financing for new machines fairly easily, either directly from or through the equipment manufacturer. In the current economic climate, loans are much harder to come by. Choosing less costly equipment can reduce even eliminate the need for financing

New technology is entering the pre-owned marketplace.

We meet with major vendors often to stay on
top of key market trends and new products.

The downsizing, plant closures and even bankruptcy of many companies have created opportunities to buy newer generation pre-owned equipment. Sellers often throw in spare parts cheaply or even free. High-quality machines just one or two years old can be found for as little as 30% of their original pricetags. That means huge savings without sacrificing features or performance.

Mature technology is less risky.

Not long ago, buying used equipment was a significant gamble because buyers had no way to gauge a particular pre-owned machine’s remaining useful life. Today, there are brands and models of equipment with proven track records of performance longevity and support excellence. For example, Netstal molders and Kammann printers have been the industry’s workhorses for 15 years, so it’s a pretty safe assumption their 5-year-old used machines can continue to perform reliably for years to come.
